It wasn't about fake pork. It was basically about ham that wasn't an actual ham but rather stretch the limit of what still is legally regarded as meat shaped into something that could possibly resemble a ham to a complete idiot.

Now that's still a very mild example of proper meat put into a convenient shape. But there are ultra-processed ones where it's meat blended so thoroughly that it's almost a sausage and "meat" can also mean bone skin, all glued together with blood plasma and extracted proteins.
It was never declared "ham" but some city fuckers are so daft and oblivious that they just assumed it would be and were shocked that the very cheap "ham" they have been eating all those years wasn't what they expected it to be.
