Well, a Super ought to be good. You sacrifice four EX moves for it. It's not even worth doing it, really.

I never even entertained the notion of using supers in SF4. EX moves are just faster and more convenient.

Much less predictable, invincibility frames, work as punishments for stuff that's normally safe and four of them are almost guaranteed to deal more and especially lead into more damage than the Super would ever do.
That's also a reason why I hate Ultras. They made Supers so not worth it that they felt the need to replace them but did so with something you gain from the exact opposite. Not by managing your resources and playing well but guaranteed from damage taken.

In SF4, most supers aren't worth it, but ask anyone and they'll tell you Hugo's super is scary. He doesn't need meter for anything except maybe EX claps or EX lariat (it has armor.) But the opponent always expects EX Claps in neutral so that's kind of moot. So you often will have the meter to spare for a super. You can punish some shit full screen with his super. I can't think of too many other characters in Ultra SFIV who get mileage out of their supers. Most everyone else uses EX in place of super. The other characters I play in Ultra all get a lot more out of 4 EXs than one super. Juri in particular has a trash fire super but a godlike EX Pinwheel.

Are there any good new fighting games that are somewhat similiar to the classic Rival School series?
Haven't been following the fighting game genre in ages and I'm not much into Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter, but those are the only ones that keep on popping up in my radar

The only good current fightan gaems are Tekken 7 and DBFZ plus some animu fighters. KoF is also good but looks terrible.

Tekken is a totally different beast from 2d fightan gaems, but it's fun.

They just came out with a new blazblue and it's indeed weebshit, and this is coming from someone who likes GGX.

Blazblue looks like one of those superfast ADD combo games that I don't care for much. I like my fighting games to be bit slower
- and that's a good thing.
