Cure (1997), directed by the other Kurosawa, is on the Internet Archive:

It's a good horror/mystery movie about a serial killer who pretends to be an amnesiac retard, and instead he's a genius who hypnotizes people into committing murders and carving X symbols on the corpses.
The story and atmosphere reminded me of Otomo's Domu.

EDIT Goddamn i wanted to post this in the movie thread, it's too hot for the Internet today.
