You're expecting logic in the game that inveted studded leather due to poor research? Where a sufficiently-skilled character can hide inside someone's ass?

Have you ever seen people trying to catch an angry cat in an apartment? You need to wear full body armour for that or it fucks you up.

In a single 6-second round though?

It won't kill you but it'll disfigure you for life.

And people keep these things as pets? I'll never understand it.

Due to the asinine way the game assigns multiple attacks to critters with natural weapons as opposed to humanoids with hands, a cat can do a Full Attack with 3 attacks right from the start, whereas a Fighter has to wait until 11th level to pull this off (less if he goes for Two-Weapon Fighting, but that's kinda shite in general).

This is also why Druids will pick a bear companion, 'cause a bear is just a better cat in this regard, which makes it better than the Fighter. A Fighter might eventually catch up, but by that time you either have an even better companion, or you've uplifted your bear so he can also be a Fighter, or better yet a Barbarian.
The Druid can of course also wildshape into a bear. A bear that can cast spells.

Oh, right. Cats have like a +16 to hide. Normies can't see cats unless the cat wants to be seen.

I had an old cat who developed diabetes that turned her into an occasional ball of rage if I dropped something or shouted. The only way to survive it was to pin her to the ground as she viciously attacked my feet and wait until she calmed down. Or use a towel and corral her into a room and lock her in for a while.

Well, they were originally bred to keep around the house and especially corn chambers to murder critters.
My great grandparents had a farm and there were about a dozen cats around. You'd only feed them a little and in exchange never had any mouse or rat problems. They were not allowed in the house.

That sounds a lot more sensible than keeping them cooped up. I feel the same about dogs as well, weird pet if you don't have land for them to roam.
