Re: Movie Thread
I watched Wild at Heart. The movie was a little too miserable for my tastes (Laura Dern can't go five minutes without something ridiculously horrible happening to her), but the acting was all-around fantastic and I loved the ending with Sheryl Lee, and Nic Cage singing.
I wish Lynch leaned more into this mischievous side of his personality. He's such a bipolar filmmaker, all his movies keep jumping from total nihilism to the goofiest shit you'll ever see.

Re: Movie Thread
I sneaked in to see "Wild at Heart" when I was 13. I watched "Twin Peaks" from the very beginning (April 1990) and became obsessed and needed to see Lynch's new movie. No adult I knew was interested and I was worried that I was too young to be allowed in so I bought a ticket to another, more kid-friendly movie at the same theater on a Saturday afternoon and then went into "Wild at Heart" instead.
I felt like I was committing a crime. And the movie was insane and like nothing I'd ever seen before. It's a cherished memory.
I still love "Wild at Heart". It's Lynch at his most trashy and ridiculous. From me, those words are not a put-down.

Re: Movie Thread
Also on the David Lynch tip, he posted this to his social media accounts yesterday
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Yes, I have emphysema from my many years of smoking. I have to say that I enjoyed smoking very much, and I do love tobacco - the smell of it, lighting cigarettes on fire, smoking them - but there is a price to pay for this enjoyment, and the price for me is emphysema. I have now quit smoking for over two years. Recently I had many tests and the good news is that I am in excellent shape except for emphysema. I am filled with happiness, and I will never retire.
I want you all to know that I really appreciate your concern.
Love,
David

Dude is unironically based. He should switch to pipes. It would fit him extremely well.

Re: Movie Thread
In an interview with the film magazine, "Sight & Sound", Lynch said that he can't leave his house. His emphysema has advanced to a stage that he can't breathe after only a short time walking. And if he catches even a minor cold, it could be life-threatening.
I like his attitude. I don't like people who preach and Lynch doesn't lower himself to speak out about the dangers of smoking. No, instead he's like "Smoking was great! It's going to kill me, but I still loved it".
Fair enough

Re: Movie Thread
The SNOW WHITE trailer is finally out!!! March 2025!!! Cool!!! Can I buy my tickets NOW???
Actually, it feels like people have been making fun of this movie for so long that I honestly thought it already came out. And bombed. But I guess we have to wait seven more months for that.
