For that to happen, all the enablers sending him booze would have to had grown a conscience instead of doing the Metokur-haha-so funny thing. Dude had a self-destructive personality and having an audience of enabling shitheads is the worse thing it could have happened to him.

In a way, sure. But he was pretty unique as well. Him not being a fucking asshole alone made him an outlier.
It's also why he died instead of some more deserving cunt like Boogie or Cyrax. It's a modern tragedy, really. I guess he never really stood a chance.
It's just very disappointing is all. He's the only IN I found genuinely funny and liked. Him being a total fool was part of that and I absolutely also laughed at him and his shenanigans. But following Cobes was a mood that just isn't easily or ever replicated. It wasn't a "Let's see what this dipshit is up to." but rather a "Let's see what our boy is up to.".

Some left early because it was getting depressing but I knew I had to see things through and I new there wouldn't be a good end and that the end was nigh. I knew all that but I'm very unhappy about being right.
I was about to say that this must be what it will feel like for a dedicated DSP detractor if Fill ever leaves the Internet. But then again those can just easily pivot to Wings or Boogie or RTU and it's basically the same thing.
There's no replacement for Cobes.

I hate to be so sentimental. It's not like I'm sitting here crying. But there's a somber mood hanging over the whole IN and drama sphere. It's an actual sense of loss. That's more than you could say about just about all other INs.

I didn't follow Cobes at all but I definitely noticed he seemed way less of a toxic shithead than a normal IN is. I suppose it's even debatable if he was a lolcow, because to me a lolcow has something broken in their personality and is fundamentally sociopathic in a way that Cobes didn't seem to have been.
