Apparently the protagonist of Witcher 4 will be the bitch with white hair - don't know who she is because i never gave a flying fuck about Polish Gayme of Thrones - and she will be a Witcher even though it makes no sense - again i don't know why and i care even less.
Like GTA 6 and Soyfield, it will sell because of the brand alone and after some months players will realize it sucks.

It's not surprising she's the protagonist now. Geralt's story ended with the Blood and Wine DLC. You wouldn't really want him to do any adventuring after that. The whole point is he finally finds a home and settles down with Yen.

Ciri has been the secondary protagonist since the days of the novels. Whether you think that's good or not is up to you. I don't really like any of the Witcher novels-I preferred the stories when they were a series of faerie tales in short story and novella format. But really, that is my preference for fantasy writing in general.

I think the outrage over this particular gender swap is a bit overblown. If you couldn't see Ciri taking over Geralt's protagonist role from a mile away then you weren't playing the games. Which you admit you weren't. I'm surprised CD Projekt have her taking over the role of a Witcher though-Ciri's whole thing was being trained by Witchers and having magic protagonist/chosen one powers but not actually being a Witcher. Geralt never wanted her to be one either. But I suppose kids do what they want.

That's fine. I have a low opinion of Witcher 3 and the Witcher novels generally. I would recommend someone curious just read The Last Wish and then ask themselves if they need any more than that.

I've always found Triss quite a manipulative bitch.

Yennifer is the one who will more openly say she's a bitch, but Triss is the one who acts like it. Yen has many flaws but fundamentally loves Geralt as a person and she sees herself as a mother for Ciri (just as Geralt sees himself as Ciri's father.)

To put another way, Yen is committed to the family unit. Triss is kinda just there as a homewrecker. It's really hard not to hate her after the events of Witcher 2, where she intentionally deceived Geralt after he lost his memory just so she could fuck him a bunch. Triss is thirsty as fuck for Geralt's peen but I don't think she's the right fit. There's also magic in play though, because of the events of the short story "The Last Wish," which Witcher 3 revisited. I guess the question you have to ask is whether you think Yen and Geralt love each other because they were enchanted to or because they really are committed.

Also the thing with mages in the Witcher is they're taken from deformed children. Yen was a hunchback before she became a witch. I don't remember what Triss was. Maybe a burn victim? Or maybe she got burned in one of the books. Point is, they use magic to appear beautiful. But that's also why I think Yen is perfect for Geralt. Geralt prior to Witcher 3 was not a pretty boy. He was emaciated, sickly-looking and had a bad attitude about others. I think that part of Yen that will always be the hunchback can relate to Geralt's feelings of otherness, both for what he is (Witcher) and how he is (his personality). I suppose Triss could too but she just seems like a thirstfag to me. Most of the women Geralt fucks lack substance imo.

All you need to know is Yen is the one who mothered Ciri. Why? Because somebody needed to. Yen was willing to step to the plate and give of herself. She doesn't always get along with Geralt in the moment, but she's on his side in life. When somebody says that behind every great man is a great woman? To whatever extent that would be true, it's true about a woman like Yen. That's a woman who will fight with you over petty shit but she'll never cave on the real tests of life.

And probably such a woman is extremely rare IRL. I knew two of my great-grandmothers personally and I would describe them that way.
