It's one of the best design aspects of Dead Space.
Just about nothing about Dead Space is in any way realistic. The fairly slick integration of HUD elements, leading to an unobstructed screen for atmospheric reasons, isn't an issue at all.

My favorite kinds of health/status readouts in games are usually from mecha, air combat or racing games. Something where it makes sense for there to be a lot of gauges, meters and screens monitoring the status of your vehicle. Cockpit view in games can never fully capture what it's like to drive a car, let alone pilot more fanciful machinery. But it's still cool and functional.
The real hentai filth is when Arthur goes up and down a latter, he flashes the camera his ass at the top/bottom. That's where the twerk animation comes from that was used in Ghosts 'n' Demons, I think.
Last time I checked Last Armageddon didn't borrow monsters, their designs and/or entire assets from a completely different franchise it has absolutely no relationship with.
