I think right after he did the rescue Yukina arc he said in a video that he couldn't bring himself to parody the dark tournament. But knowing Lani he lies a lot, so who knows. None of these people actually seemed to have the end goal of finishing anything. All these people seem to have completion anxiety.

I've seen many people online who fully believe their HFIL thing is going to end with that filler where the uprising happens and Paikuhan and Goku fight them off. Which is funny in a "Why do you think that would happen" way.

In relation to the recaps, Lani shows yet again he's a theater kid in the most annoying way possible and Kaiser won't shut the fuck up about how hard it is to be Trunks. And how he might have played 17 and tried to impersonate Chuck Huber. And a long rant about how they made the joke about Freeza being how you spell it because Kaiser grew up with that spelling. Lani trying to flaunt that Orange Piccolo merch and I've always found their shirts to be lacking. They whine on and on about dated humor but their shirts are dated, a black t-shirt with "recognizable brand image" is always lazy. Especially when it's not even your brand.
I don't know maybe I'm being a little bitch but add something to it other than "Hahaha Orange Piccolo!"

Gozar would have taken the role of Trunks (or anything at that point if he had been asked during season 1) but Kaiser badly wanted to play Trunks, while Lani cried about how he MUST play all the Sabat characters (minus Yamcha because Vegeta3986 loved Yamcha and wasn't fit for the role of Vegeta). I find it funny how much bad blood there is between TFS and Gozar over their different views of what a DBZ parody should be, but Kaiser stole from ARDBZ on and off to the point where if anyone brought it up he would just block them. Gozar claimed himself to be the old school Family guy type of humor that is just nonsensical spoof comedy, and TFS seemed to hate that because they wanted to "write" DBZ as more of a comedy. No lie I think Gozar would have added some great flavor to the series if he had come on board, but with TFS already having 5 writers at the start, it was bound to be messy and with 6 writers it probably would have never gotten done because more and more egos would have clashed. Also it's a known fact that Gozar thinks Masako is the worst casted Goku, even worse than any of the Ocean/Westwood actors who have played Goku.

Huh. I didn't know there was beef between Gozar and TFS. Kind of makes sense in how their views of a abridged series for DBZ were.

The issue with Masako is that he isn't really even a servicable VA. Doesn't have range. That's why he lost the job of being Roshi midway of the series to Lani. So his Goku always felt off. Can't do a proper range of emotions. He sounds like a bad Ian James Corlett. It's a shame because the voice itself could with someone more talented. But he's not the worst. That goes to Kirby Morrow. He has zero emotion for Goku who sounded chill the whole time.

Now in regards to VAs who played Goku from best to worst in my opinion:
Peter Kelamis, Ian James Corlett, Sean Schemmel, MasakoX, Kirby Morrow.

Kelamis was amazing and was the only legit VA to know how to say Kaioken. The rest don't know how to say it.

Sean Schemmel's Goku is the one everyone knows because they whore Funimation out like no tomorrow, but Ocean Dub used actual actors rather than just people who can sit in a booth. There were like 3 other Goku VA's aside Schemmel and every single one of them sound better than stereotypical British guy that Masako is.

When you think about it though, it wasn't because Masako was a bad VA that Lani wanted him out, it was because Lani and Kaiser didn't think it through as to how they wanted to actually use the character of Roshi. Halfway through they just decided they wanted him to sound like his dub counterpart because they wanted to be a Funimation knockoff. I like Kirby Morrow's voice, I just feel he didn't get enough time with the character like everyone else did because when you think about it, if they just had a single Goku throughout the entire dub, there would be less to probably complain about, and more time to develop the style and understanding of the character like Brian Drummond and Scott McNeil were able to do.
