Try to get one of those classy ones PUR is using.

My old glasses are pretty weak right now.so I'm without a useable spare.
Thankfully the functionality of glasses hasn't changed much since their inception, you just put them over your eyes and they work. Just pick a pair of frames that looks good on you and is within your price range (but do look for weak points on the frames, those might break long term).Liar Revealed wrote: ↑Sun Nov 20, 2022 3:54 pmI'm new to the whole glasses thing. Bad DNA from parents + age finally catching up.
I hate shopping for them. I don't know what to look for. I don't even care about how they look anymore, I just want the best functionality.
The lenses are a bit scammy; they'll try to sell you lenses coated with anti-UV and "Blue light shielding", but that's hogwash. The only thing you really want, if you're going to wear glasses all the time (and not just for reading) is anti-reflection coating, that really helps with artificial light glare (it helps less against or almighty Sun, but I suppose you won't be standing on hot summer sun for hours; if that's the case, you can just get an attachable sunglass cover or get prescription sunglasses along your regular ones).

Yeah, I have prescription sunglasses too.
I don't exactly know what's wrong with me. My left eye has astigmatism and totally sucks now. But my right eye makes no sense. I have days where I can see perfectly and other days when I can't see shit and need to wear the glasses. Maybe it's due to allergies, or maybe it's due to all the prescription drugs the doctors make me take.

It could actually be some kind of illness. Is it better or worse when you are tired? I believe diabetes can affect your vision. I don't know which other illnesses or diseases can.
I've used transition lenses and found they really don't activate when you need them to. If I'm driving in my car, no matter how much glare hits my eyes, my lenses won't darken. If there's any buffer between the sunlight and my eye then the lenses don't work.
Anti-reflection coating is pretty nice. The main thing for me is having scratch resistance. I've worn glasses since I was 5 years old, and I wear them from dawn to dusk. No matter how well I treat my glasses, they inevitably get scratches, which are the worst. A scratch in the middle of your vision is something you just have to deal with, or else buy a whole new pair of glasses. It's a huge pain in the ass. Scratches on your glasses can make you believe your vision is worse than it is, simply because you're always having to look through obstructions. Anything that reduces the amount of scratches your glasses get is a boon.
I prefer metal frames rather than those faggy plastic ones. I've had glasses my whole life and never once has a metal frame broken on me. The screw which holds one part of the frame to the other can snap, but the frame itself never has for me.
You'll probably want to get an eyeglass screwdriver kit so you can repair your own glasses in the event a screw falls off or you need to adjust something.

I'll have to pay attention to that.rabidtictac wrote: ↑Wed Nov 23, 2022 2:09 amIt could actually be some kind of illness. Is it better or worse when you are tired?
Doctors can't figure it out.
Strangely, bathing/showering will often trigger the bad vision. It lasts several hours afterwords.
One of my anti-insomnia meds (trazodone) can cause blurred vision, but I only take that an hour before going to bed.

Do you have dizziness when bathing or showering as well? Difficulty walking or balancing? Any other symptoms?
Vision has many strange relationships with other aspects of health, which might not seem obvious at first. It might be worth talking to your primary care physician about.

What I think you should take away from this google search is that a shitload of issues could be causing blurred vision/a sudden onset of worse vision. Could be serious or could be totally mundane, like eye strain.

I dunno. I think I've always been a bit of a clumsy oaf. Hard to tell. I DO have migraines and take medication for it.

Consistency. I really hate that word but I kinda need to do it. Sleep schedules been fucked, been making little bits of mistakes, and worst yet, I haven't been on here as much as I should. Didn't even mention the racist holiday.
Aside from that, I'm starting to feel like I don't really care for much and I need another reason apart from "because you have to". I know it's my duty as a man to do this shit, but I'm still a young man who doesn't know what the fuck he is doing.
