I've only played the first level, but i don't think so.
It seems a love letter to the 80s cartoon and nothing else.
SoR4 wasn't really woke either, there were black and Asian characters in the old games too and the women in 4 look like this:
The only possible hint of woke in SoR4 was replacing the bodybuilders with motorcycle helmets with fat women with motorcycle helmets, and there was also an enemy who looked like a dangerhair, but both of those existed only to get their asses kicked.
Since it was on sale and i had 2.50 residual Euros resting in my Steam wallet for years, i bought this:
It's pretty good and you get premium currency just by winning games, the music gets old very fast so it's better to listen to something else while playing.
There already is a SotN ripoff for Touhou, and it actually stays true to the Touhou aesthetics instead of brute-forcing the ill-fitting gothic Castlevania artstyle (even if it is my favorite kind of Castlevania arstyle; it just looks stupid on Touhou waifus).
You can't even tell this is Touhou from the sprites alone, but you can with the superior version:
And why the fuck is Reimu using a whip? That's not even a thing in most Metroidvanias.
