Payday 1 was leaps and bounds better than two. Shotguns in that game had actually realistic ranges and spread and you had movement tech.

Realistic shotguns are unrealistic.

In some ways, I prefer PD1 to two, but the game was rather limited. I liked the simplier skill system, where you didn't really have to worry about stuff, but that's not that big of a deal. What really disappointed me was how tiny the levels were compared to the first one! Their engine was a piece of shit, so they split the levels into multiple parts, which add visual variety, but it was seriously disappointing. Now they're learning how to work with Unreal engine, because they can't afford to release yet another disasterous game (after the Walking dead garbage and that WW2 payday clone nobody played), it killed the studio once already.

It's not like the second game was garbage. It's just a shame they made it instead of expanding on the first one. Many additions were good but the overall feel of the first game was better.

I quit playing PD2 when they nerfed Silent Killer builds AND the Clarion rifle in one patch. Unbelievable.

I had fun with it for quite a while, but eventually I just couldn't stand the endgame logic and mechanisms, where you're basically trying to break everything, because all the enemies are so stupidly powerful and minibosses generate like crazy. The only shooter I consistently come back to and play regularly is Battlfield (in this case BF1), because the core game loop is very satisfying to me, exactly what I was looking for in shooters - to be able to be powerful and have a lot of freedom in a large scale conflict, but only if you actually earn it, and to be able to take control and not be overwhelmed like in some of the more realistic shooters that have been appearing lately.
And fuck stealth, it was a stupid idea in PD1, but at least it had sort of a novelty in that one diamond heist, but making whole missions that are about broken sneaking mechanism that again, you have to cheeze like a motherfucker (I don't consider sprint jumping around as sneaking), is simply idiotic.
