The ancient south and central american empires were brutal, but seemed comparatively advanced for their era. The problem is that those empires were all in decline or evaporating when the conquistadors did show up. Even without the conquistadors, nothing good was going to happen. No great empire was going to revive itself and stretch its hand back across the land. At least, not for a long time.

The native americans were much the same way. An empire/empires that had cracked apart and left all these splinter groups, tiny kingdoms and tribes. Unfortunate timing to have a well-organized, still healthy empire or 3 come calling.

Public transit after about 8 PM becomes a shitshow. The later it gets, the worse it gets. The degenerates come crawling out at night. I used to take 12 AM buses down one of our busiest and shittiest main roads. People have shat on the bus, I watched some dude abusing his girlfriend/wife on a bus, random dudes slamming their arms against the side of bus... It's fucking wild. I'm just glad I was never around for a stabbing or shooting because that shit happens too.

I'd love to and I even would because they are being really stupid. Actually, I'd have fired them both already. But there's not much sense in doing so now. It's not like I'll get any better of a replacement anymore and I can suffer it for those few weeks remaining.
