Right on time for the weekend, I'm getting a bad cold. I haven't had a cough this extreme since I had scarlet fever as a child.
Today I had a coughing fit so acute that I couldn't breathe in for two minutes as if my throat was squeezed shut. Absolutely crazy! Never had that before.

Maybe it's just the ongoing gift of the coof reducing my lung capacity. Still, never had such an odd cough.

It set on yesterday evening like a regular cough. Today it's me being fine for an hour and then having the most intense cough reflex ever for a few minutes. It felt like my lungs collapsing.

Today it's back to a regular cold. Felt like absolute shit when I got up two hours ago but it's that normal slimy cough.

That sounds like an asthmatic reaction, or it could be a muscle spasm closing up your throat. One of my family members struggles with allergies and asthma. Sometimes this happens to them. Even though it's just a cold, you might consider talking to a doctor about an inhaler in case you get colds regularly and you start having more issues with your throat closing up.

I have a cold once or twice a year. I've never had a cough like that ever before. I don't have any allergies or asthma either.

I don't. I smoke pipe but only every couple of days and obviously not at all when I have a cold.
I don't inhale that at all anyway, so that makes no difference.
