So you may have heard the rumors going around that New England possibly has a serial killer on the loose, I’m intrigued. Why? I don’t get off on Manson and Bundy like some freaks, but serial killers stand out from the usual daily murder by niggers unremarkable people we see. I find them fascinating in a macabre way.

We were always told as kids that there are no such thing as monsters. But that isn't true. Serial killers are the real deal. Real life monsters of pure evil walking on this Earth among us. Exactly. Monsters fascinate me, from folklore and legend. But they’re just superstition. Some maniac carving up bodies, that’s scary.

I had my "serial killer fascination" period in my 20s, I guess. Jim Goad's dark, brutal, epic, hilarious Top 100 serial killers article in ANSWER Me! is a seminal piece of writing for some of my generation. I've probably read that thing 20 times.

The typical serial killer is a loser who tries to be winner, but they go about it in this fucked up way. They often come from backgrounds of the worst kind of abuse.

But then there are the ones who had genuine mental issues that they couldn't process. The most memorable example of this for me is Charles Whitman, who back in 1966 went to the top of a tall building at the University of Texas at Austin with a rifle and a bunch of ammunition and started shooting people randomly. Before he did this, he left a note for his family, in which he asked them to make sure that his brain is examined (he knew that he was going to die that day) because he felt that something was wrong with him, but he couldn't explain it. And he was right. Whitman's autopsy revealed that he had a golfball-sized tumor in his brain and it pressed right up against his aggression center.

Geez, I knew about him but not about the tumor.

Serial killers are almost a non-issue. They don't have shit on the sex trafficking and child sex rings, nor the cartels.
Greater evils are committed every day quite casually. Serial killers are just a curious oddity.

Not to mention that there are at least a handful of guys in the O-block alone that have killed more people right now. The true atrocity of course being their terrible drill rap mixtapes.
