Tea

Post by rabidtictac » Tue Oct 10, 2023 4:00 pm

We have yuropeons here right? What kind of teas do you like/drink? I've never been a coffee person, but lately I have been trying to upgrade my taste buds from cheap, shitty teabags to some proper loose leaf.

I prefer Oolong or Black Teas, myself.

I'm a lemon and orange tea sipper, love me those citric flavours.

I know this is the tea thread but I started drinking coffee because I was told it would help me shit (I traditionally have "problems" in that area). Now people think I'm a "coffee guy" and it bothers me.
I don't want to be a "coffee guy."
I don't even know anything about coffee.
Thanks for reading my blog.

I assume the big crossover here is autism.

Just drink your coffee in private, mate.

You could ask Red Line to help the constipation. Alternatively try Arabic mocca style coffee brewed directly in a pot instead of relying on coffee machines where the water isn't even boiling.

Flax seeds are also a natural laxative, if you wanna avoid the Devil's bean.

Do you mean tea brewed from lemon and orange, or a tea flavored with those things? Forgive my autism-I'm not sure whether you mean a black flavored tea or an herbal tea.

Aside from the more casual stuff like herbal teas (stinging nettle being my favourite there) for actual tea I've got a few favourites.

I make black tea the standard European way. I usually have it with a bit of cream, the Frisian Assam blends in the Friesian way with rock candy and no stirring as well.

For other tea I make them in the Chinese gong fu style. I've got three small teapots. A Japanese one for white and yellow tea, an affordable clay one for Pu-ehr and an original Yixing pot for Oolong.

If you want to give that a try, get yourself a gaiwan. A nice one doesn't cost much.
The point is to have a ratio of water to tea that's just about even. In exchange, the steeping time is drastically reduced.
For an Oolong you'd do a wash and then an initial steeping time of around 20 seconds with 90°C water. Then you adjust from there. You get about 8 steepings out of that. So about as many cups.

The result is a more aromatic and intense tea, plus easier adjustability.

Oolong is my favourite tea, followed by yellow tea. I hate the trend of lesser roasting and fermentation of Oolong, driven by green tea fags.
Favourites of mine are Oriental Beauty, Red Pearl and all bug-bitten Oolongs in general. Taiwan produces the very best Oolong.

I don't like green tea. I have yet to try one I like.
