Friendly reminder that Jesus was a faggot that, when called by the Roman governor to explain what the fuck was all that shit he was saying about, came up with "to Caesar what's unto Caesar" cope. I totally believe he would be today an anti-gun, pro-mask faggot bowing to the (((Powers))) because muh Kingdom Come.
Friendly reminder that Jesus wasn't fucking real

I think that was actually in response to the Pharisees asking him a trick question. But it's only a "trick" if you're a faggot. They asked him if Jews occupied by Rome should pay taxes. If he said yes, then he'd be called a Good Goy by the jewish rebellion movement. If he said no, the Pharisees would claim he's an ebil criminal who wants to incite violent rebellion. Which the Roman officials would be very concerned about.

His response was a lame sidestep, just like a current politician would do. "Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's." He was playing word games, because Caesar's face was on the coins.

Thing is, Oh Amazing Deity Being, money is just a representation of owed debts to be paid off in goods and services. None of those goods and services had Caesar's face on them. So he answered the letter of the law question, but didn't answer the spirit of the question at all. Should an occupied people pay fealty to the occupying force? That was the question. He didn't answer it. An occupying force by definition comes in and takes shit that doesn't have their face on it.

Throughout much of antiquity, peasants didn't even pay taxes in coin at all. They paid in goods. Often in grain. Where is Caesar's face on a grain of millet? How does it belong to Caesar then? Caesar didn't grow it. Caesar didn't harvest it. Caesar came in with an army and took over. So how do I render to Caesar what is Caesar's when the millet doesn't belong to Caesar? But oh, Caesar has some soldiers here with weapons and they sure think the millet belongs to them. Not so fucking easy to give a glib response to human suffering when you're not a fictional character like Jesus.

I bring up this whole aside as a way to point out that many of the "amazingly intelligent responses" Jesus gave to questions were really fucking stupid and/or disingenuous when you stop to examine them for a minute. A lot of them were along the lines of "don't think about x, just worship me instead." Which is retarded.

Depending on the area and period, there might not even been coinage. The much-memed shekel for example started out as a unit of weight in silver, after which the value of all goods and services was measured.
It's certainly not something the lower castes needed when they only really paid in natural produce, anyways.

That was at the Temple of Jerusalem, which the other Jews had conveniently transformed into an open marketplace/brokerage. I don't know what he expected, really. Jews are gonna Jew.

A sacrifice-rich yuletide for all followers of the old ways.
