This is a professional relationship, not an interpersonal one. Employers and employees go and come, come and go all the bloody time. It's normal, and it's nothing that anyone should take personally. And frankly, if he does, if it's going to "hurt" him to lose an employee as the direct result of unreasonable bullshit on his end, that's his problem, not yours. And even if you only mean that in the sense of hurting his operation, the point is still the same. It's his problem, not yours.

As I've said, I barely remember half the people I've personally fired, let alone half of those that quit.
In the 16 years we had our store, only two had been there from the beginning. People quitting a job for a better one or because they move or just want to do something different is one of the most normal things in business.
In most companies, not a single year goes by without a change in staff and in big companies not a month or even week.
