I mean, if having a family that outright deals drugs, defrauds the government on a daily basis, and is in and out of the prison systems didn't disqualify my mother for security clearances I doubt, "I have a crazy mother who thought I was suicidal for no good reason," will disqualify you.BlueberryRagamuffin wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2019 12:17 amI work for a defense contractor and I'm applying for secret level clearance. One of my coworkers who went through the process told me it entailed filling out a bunch of paperwork and waiting so I'm worried I won't be able to elaborate enough. Honestly though I've lived a full life so this is only one of a few things that could disqualify me.
People love complaining, right? Complain about everything (life, health, bad luck, random shit etc)

Because they also take into account your family members and my mother was never denied any form of clearance despite being extensively questioned on actions taken by direct family.
All you should have to do is tell them what happened and you should be fine.
Stack of forms about a quarter-inch thick. Have fun.

Re: People love complaining, right? Complain about everything (life, health, bad luck, random shit etc)
So to continue my complaint from a few pages ago, where I needed to go get paperwork from my doctor to prove that I was even sick enough to need accommodations or anything similar...
Doctor tells me, "I can do that but you'll need to get some FMLA paperwork from them. It'll cover that and allow you to take time off when you need to." This is because I will need to have consultations and various surgical procedures done in the near future to figure out what's wrong/fix it/get me on track to keeping it under control. Get the papers, bring it to the doctor's office, doctor faxes it to the work place and everything is peachy, apparently.
Work tells me, "no your doctor is wrong, you need to get the paperwork to prove you're even sick before we'll even consider giving you some forms to fill out to ask for time off (and accommodations related) to deal with an illness that you've got a history of a month of ER and doctor visits and the paperwork to prove you were there for that reason on file."
Oh also I have to have said proof by Monday but they specifically told me this on Friday right before the doctor's office closed and they also expected me to work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday without the necessary accommodations because I didn't have proof I needed them despite me literally asking for the forms that would cover all of that. Twice.
Get pissed. Walk out after 3 hours of working and abdominal pains beginning to act up again. Do some research, turns out the company I was working for has tons of lawsuits related to FMLA violations and if the people who filed them didn't quit before doing so they were immediately fired for, "unrelated," issues.
It's cool, though. I've got two jobs lined up that won't require the specific things that trigger my condition.
