Off the top of my head
1) Having the filth receptacle right next the thing you're supposed to cleanse yourself with is counterproductive. We know so many airborne germs originate from toilets.
2) It avoids the situation where one person needs to takes a piss/shit, but there's somebody already in there taking a bath/shower.

2) get a second toilet

Seconded. Plus, I wouldn't laud a people who thought a whole in the floor to squat over was adequate for their smart toilet ideas.

While I completely agree with you guys, I keep hearing from so-called "experts" that those squat toilets are better for your health. I don't know if that's actually true or just typical idiots fawning over exotic oriental things.
