I feel so frustrated. My mom is still devastated by the death of our cat, crying every day. I thought that we should start looking for a new cat to try and take her mind off of the loss.

She didn't really want to, but we went the the animal shelter. And there was actually a kitten there that looked very much like our deceased cat!

And we were going to adopt it and then they dropped this, "Oh by the way, this cat is sick and you will have to quarantine him for two weeks, and wash your hands and change clothes after touching him before contact with other cats."

Well, why the fuck would they put a sick kitten up for adoption? We could have adopted him, but we didn't want to get the other cat sick!

I think that's because there are people who don't care the animal is sick, they can quarantine it no problem. I mean, they should at least keep these animals separated (since they need to quarantine anyway) and warn you before showing them. If you can take it, great, if you can't, no problem.

We couldn't think of any humane way to do it. We could confine the kitty to one room in the house but that seemed cruel to do to a little guy for two entire weeks.

It's not that bad. One of my cats had abdomen surgery and because he was soon jumping around the house, he ended displacing something on his insides and needed to go back for another surgery. The vet recommended locking him in the bathroom shower box for a week, until his internal stitches finished healing. He hated it I'm sure, but survived.

We may go back tomorrow. It would probably be best if somebody with no cats adopts him, but if he's still there we can try to work something out.

It was just too good to be true that they actually had another lynx-point Siamese boy like our dearly departed friend.

My gripe for the day, fuck USPS. They “attempted” a package delivery, with no slip left behind, I was home and don’t even think they knocked or rang for me. Well I had to manually schedule another delivery, which could take up to well past the time I have to leave for work. I’m on the night shift for the summer, so I’m missing out on good sleep because some autist at amazon needs a signature. Fucking hell.

USPS has to be some of the laziest and most incompetent couriers on the planet. I’ll take UPS/DHL/Fedex any day.
