In 2022, gay and bisexual men accounted for 67% of new HIV diagnoses in the US, and 86% of diagnoses among all men
Among men with HIV attributed to male-to-male sexual contact and injection drug use, 92% knew they had HIV.
So if you are gay and have sex with 10 men, you are statistically likely to have had sex with at least one man who had HIV/AIDs.According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as of 2020, an estimated 15% of gay and bisexual men in the United States were living with HIV. This is significantly higher than the overall HIV prevalence rate in the United States, which is around 0.8%
It therefore follows logically that the average gay man is going to have sex with approximately 2 HIV-positive men in his lifetime. And we are talking about partners, so that's not "19 instances of sex with a man over a lifetime." It's potentially dozens or hundreds of sexual interactions with a man who has aids.Studies show that gay men (men who have sex with men or MSM) typically have a median of 19 sexual partners in a lifetime,
On a long enough time scale, it's completely understandable why so many gay men become HIV-positive. They're playing russian roulette with their dicks.
Incidentally, 6-9 partners is the average number over a lifetime for heterosexual men. So gay men have around 2-3x as many partners as straight men . IN ADDITION to the fact gay men are far more likely to carry aids than straight women.
Oh and I missed the part that included bisexual men with the gay male statistics. So being half-gay doesn't shield you from aids at all.
