This might not count as a phrase exactly, but why the fuck do so many people say "is" twice? "The thing is is that..." or "The point is is that..." or whatever. Where the fuck is that second "is" coming from? I'm expecting at least one person to have never noticed this before, and now they're going to start hearing it everywhere. Fuck you, we suffer together.

It tends to happen in contexts where beginning the sentence with "what" would require the second "is."
Something like, "What the problem is, is that blahblahblah." People don't use that initial "what," but still include the second "is." It's maddening.

Ah, so that's not just me noticing. I didn't think much of it, because it's not my native language and I'm bound to stumble upon new words every once in a while.

It seems to be a dumb version of "tailored".

As for me the new dumb word is "nadir". Heard it last year for the first time, now it's used everywhere. Just say "low point", like a normal person.
I have no idea how "nadir" is supposed to be pronounced and it sounds like a sandnigger name. Just stop it!
