While I have a fancy car, it doesn't need to be fancy to absolutely make you not work on it yourself.
Admittedly an extreme example, I dare you to work on an Audi A2 for anything in proximity of the motor.
You have to take half the car apart to change the oil filter. Whatever you end up paying the mechanics is a bargain compared to dealing with that shit yourself.

They don't sell the Audi A2 here. I've worked on an MkV Golf and several Americanized VWs and those are definitely at-home maintainable. I'm not saying everyone has to be willing to rebuild transmissions and chase every electric fault but a 2005 Nissan Sentra doesn't require a professional for everything.
