Funny how similar this is to the ultra-orthodox way of life.

Greg Abbott's lead against Beto O'Rourke went up a few points in Texas.

Polls say that 22% of voters here consider abortion rights, which is the subject of every Beto O'Rourke campaign ad that I see, to be their top issue. Meanwhile 31% consider the open border to be their top issue.

I'm amazed that Beto O'Rourke is even viable in Texas, especially after he said 'Hell yeah we're gonna take your guns away'

I see Beto O'Rourke yard signs everyday. He has an undeniable following among liberal city-dwellers in Texas. It's that sea of red outside of the cities, and the increasingly red border that's not charmed by his bullshit.

He has that DSP factor. He's supported out of sheer contrarianism.

Doesn't that Beto guy always lose elections? Why do they keep running him?

Probably to lure the GOP into spending tons of money on races in safe seats that should easily be winnable so they don't have anything left to spend on toss-ups that would end up flipping things and giving them actual power .

Ted Cruz defeated Beto O'Rourke for the senate in 2018, but it was close. Cruz won by about two points. It was the closest senate race in forty years here.

There are lots of reasons. for that. The Democrats spent a lot of money on him. Ted Cruz is as likable as mold spores. Still, the closeness of that race, I think was encouraging to the Democrats to stick with him.

Hopefully, Beto is done after he loses this November. I'm tired of seeing his face.
