Leopards are theoretically easier to deploy because of the geographic proximity, but will still take months for those systems to be able to be deployed.

Tell that to the Russian ammo depos that were blown up by HIMARS last year. Or are you going to tell me they had zero influence in the retake of Kharkiv and Kherson? They're certainly not miracle weapons, and a lot of their effectiveness had to do with the amount of battlefield intel Americans were feeding Ukrainians (it's good to have the globe covered by your satellites, after all), but nonetheless, they worked pretty well hitting Russian logistics infrastructure in those regions.

Pinpricks. It's a PR weapon. HiMARS are slow, don't travel low to the ground, don't employ evasive manoeuvres and travel in a predictable trajectory. They may have done some initial damage but Russians adjusted for this by moving their ammo depos further backward and adjusting their air defence systems to run point. Their air defence managed to shoot most HiMARS rockets down.

Then there's the fact that Lockheed are producing the guided missile systems at a snail's pace, something like 6000 a year (Ukraine fired 500 of these in September alone) and they need NATO contractors to come and operate the weapons because most of the Ukrainian soldiers aren't trained in their use.

HiMARS are good at one thing though. They are fucking expensive. 500 rockets accounts for $6.2 million spent. So they're good at driving up the stock price for Lockheed Martin's investors and generating more and more orders for them from gullible idiots who hear regime media go on and on about how they're such a game changer. But they don't actually accomplish anything of value
