This is why it's better just to get a new PC. For what they're scalping GPUs for you can get a good quality pre-built with a high-end GPU

Dunno where you live but I don't see places giving you discounts on a GPU just because it's pre-build into a whole system. If anything, I'd pay premium on the components.
That's not a problem. One can always just get rid of it.

I think you've misunderstood somewhere.
Let's take for example what I've got, which is an NVIDIA Geforce RTX 3070. Scalpers are selling this for 2 grand. For 2 grand you could buy an entirely new PC. Take the parts you want, in this case the GPU, then sell everything else (the case, the motherboard, the CPU) third party.

I even find the regular prices for cards too high, though. I don't think I'll get a high end one anyway.
