Neither was entering it. But perhaps we should've assisted Russia in fighting radical Islam in Syria instead of supporting it. Putin might be less pissed off about NATO if we did.

Very suspicious, but not quite as simple.
No German politican who's not in the AFD actually wants Nord Stream 2 to go online. It would be heresy to do so.
Nord Stream 1 on the other hand is something they would like to go online again, but Russia keeps making up excuses as to why they can't.

(Not that anyone would believe in consistent gas deliveries from Russia while the "special operations" are still ongoing.)

As much as the western media is playing this up, it is a bad look for Putin.

I don't blame them. Dying in war was never glorious, and it became particularly stupid after modern weapons made men into cannon fodder. It's specially dumb if the war isn't even a defensive one.
