You have to remember that most of the Dems in charge of the Party now are old hippies or boomers who remember old hippies. They're all about that us vs them "down with the maaaan" rhetoric. Even if they are the "man." To get around the fact they have the power and authority now, they sell the underdog message with whatever out-groups they can find.
