Because you can't really do that without Russsia.
You wouldn't need Russia. Giving Japan or South Korea nuclear missiles would be enough to piss off the Chinese. That's why they don't develop their own, even though they could.

The thing about owning 1/8 of Earth's land surface is that you don't own the other 7/8.

Any idea that Russia is a powerful nation was pretty much evaporated over night and now China might be hesitant to invade Taiwan.

Russia is powerful, relatively speaking, but it may suffer enduring economic problems because of the aggressive sanctioning from the biggest economies. The extent of that damage is still unclear. I don't think China will invade Taiwan in the short term because, frankly, they don't seem to be prepared for it right now, and an amphibious invasion of an island directly supported by the US Navy is much harder than driving through one of your puppet countries and be at a 3-hour drive from the enemy capital. Five or ten years over the wire, however, who knows, specially if the US continue the path of becoming a nigger-worshipping, tranny-loving shithole.

I don't think either China or Russia need be beholden to the global economy. It would require a shift in China's priorities and cost them a lot of money, but they have the land mass and resources to endure sanctions, just as Russia does. China already considers Taiwan theirs and I don't think they will brook any disagreement on this point.

Even if they were beholden to the world order, that never stopped the Powers to go to war, except maybe between 1815 and 1866. I remember reading about economists predicting it was impossible for WW I to start because of how entwined the economic relationships between the Great Powers were. Didn't stop the politicians and diplomats to screw shit beyond repair. The only thing really keeping the current status quo together is MAD.

Taiwan doesn't have nukes though. MAD only applies to nuclear powers or countries that can beg favors from nuclear powers. As we've seen, nuclear deterrent is a real thing. Ukraine wouldn't have been invaded if it had nukes.

But the US has. It all depends on how strongly will you defend Taiwan. A sizeable part of the world's economy depends on Taiwanese microchips, and the straits are a vital route for commerce as well. It's also easier to defend an island.

Ukraine never had control of those weapons.
