Unluckily for you, using knives in self-defense is more legally risky than using a gun. Hell, carrying a knife in America (depending on the type) is often illegal in places where carrying a gun with a CCW would not be. A cop will be less assmad finding you with a loaded gun on your person and a ccw permit than to find you with a knife that cop thinks is "too much like a weapon."

Then there's the fact that knives aren't great self-defense weapons unless the other guy has nothing.

Stowing a fucking baseball bat in your back seat can get you in more trouble than having a fully-loaded firearm in your pocket. The ONLY weapon you are legally allowed to carry is a gun, and only with a CCW or in open carry areas.

I used to do a lot of martial arts and certain martial arts training items are annoyingly difficult to purchase despite being of little practical application in combat. Nunchucks are a famous example.

Move to Texas. You can open carry swords here and brass knuckles are now legal.

Any knife over 5 1/2 inches is location restricted in Texas. So no going to a bar or festivities with one.
That said, you shouldn't open carry a knife anyway. Some people are fucking retarded about them.

I know here in Canada (at least in my province) you're not supposed to open carry your hunting knife. Ironically a kid who I worked with had a mom who was a cop and he owned an automatic switch blade he bought from the states and would cary it in his pocket.

Eh, one guy in my shooting club works for the tax office and his carpenter son regularly works black labour. Officials often don't care when their kids break the law.

As for knife carry here, there are no laws about open or concealed carry. Some people are just retards that think you will randomly stab them or something.

Yeah well, I have never seen a white carpenter in full gear carrying his work knife being an avid Islamist. Yet some people get nervous if they see somebody having a Swiss army knife.
