The eviction moratorium didn't get an extension because everyone except for AOC knows that it's a bad idea. Nancy Pelosi won't admit that, but I think even she knows it's true. Her statements on it are evasive like that. At one point, she said that the House just forgot about it!

There's never going to be a "good" time to lift the moratorium. They could extend it for another six months and when that deadline hits, the people who are carrying on now will do the same then. Also, I don't like to see anyone who's making an earnest effort to stay afloat get evicted, but I'm very suspicious of anyone who's spent several months to a year depending on the moratorium. These are not smart people. I'd be surprised if many of them are voters. I'd be flabbergasted if most of them know who their Congressional reps even are.
