Caramel Anthony's family is putting on a press conference right now. I'm watching it live on Facebook. Some guy who talks like a black preacher and sounds completely full of shit is talking. He defended the fund-raising and is now criticizing the Frisco public school district for expelling the knife-wielding negro. He's leaning hard into the racism angle.

Austin Metcalf's father showed up, but was asked to leave. The family wouldn't start the conference until he left.

I don't like that Karmelo Anthony's family has to suffer so much. They're not kicking back and counting money. They've been doxed and receive constant threats and are living in fear right now. That was very clear when the mother spoke at the press conference.

They're a two-parent household and they live in Frisco, TX, which is a well-to-do, upper middle class area. It's about 30 miles from me. It's not "the hood". Also, I can understand why the family would defend their kid, even though he did something awful.

None of that changes that Karmelo Anthony clearly deserves prison time. My prediction is manslaughter. I think the defense will convincingly argue that the killing was unintentional, but will have a much harder time arguing that Anthony's life was in danger.
