Wish I had some of these cards, I bet they will be worth a fortune now.
Nah. Illegal cards cost nothing.

Maybe for people that are collectors only?

It's not like there are going to be any less of them on the market. If anything it'd be the opposite.

Shit happens with things in retro though, suddenly a new game gets announced like paper mario and suddenly all the older games skyrocket in price as a result. Basically just bringing attention to it is enough to get people either interested or speculated enough to drive the price up.

Magic card price is entangled to usefulness in the game. You'll see cards that demanded a high price drop drastically once they fall out of rotation if they aren't useful in legacy formats.

Won't that make them more affordable in casual formats?

Besides, the shock value is better this way. You'll see a lot more heart attacks in random game store encounters with these in their decks. Than in tournament safe spaces.
...and still: Spoony did nothing.

I'd be surprised if any of them did cost more than a few cents before the ban. I doubt many people actually give a fuck.

Even dirt common alpha cards like death ward are going for $10-$12 on fleabay, now imagine having a whole deck of $10-12 cards and that's $600 including lands (alpha lands go for way more). This is why people are buying up bulk card lots because they are hoping to find dad's old decks and hit the jackpot.

MTG is in the same bubble, I just sold a worldy tutor for $10 bucks, though sadly I sold most of my good stuff years ago. It just depends if the cards are still in use today if they are worth a fuck ton or just shit you throw away.
Fucking original dual lands cost on the vicinity of $400 bucks or so, depending on the color pair. If only I had money when I was young, I'd be swimming in card autismo bucks today.

About Extended, I think they'll resurrect a format similar to that for MTG Arena when Ixalan, Dominaria, and M19 rotate out of Standard. Could become a physical format too, why not?

They already created Pioneer (everything from Return to Ravnica onwards, fetch lands banned), so I don't think they'll ever make Historic (MTG Arena's eternal format) into a physical format.

I remember when the original dual lands cost like 30 bucks each during the 90s. Not enough to be filthy rich, But Damn that's some nice return on investment.
