What's the 70's equivalent of American Psycho in terms of one of its messages, consumerism?

This """apology""" for 2016 comes too little, too late.
The only apology I would have accepted is murdering the cast and crew of 2016 and the surviving cast of the original film.
Why murder a perfectly good Leslie Kong when you can just send her back to Skull Island instead?
I always thought Lady Ghostbusters was based on the Filmation because of her. I don't remember a talking gorilla in the Real Ghostbusters after all.

I'm re-watching parts of Spider-Man on 123movies. Now I'm on my third one. The first two parts already look outdated. And this one meets modern requirements for picture quality and special effects. Well, anyway where else in what movie is such a cute and terribly cute best friend in Spider-Man.

Why yes, Chinese Mark Zuckerberg, one would hope that the visual quality of a movie would be better between 2002 and 2007.

American Psycho is such a piece of 80s commentary that there really is no close 70s equivalent.

I am thinking about this question though and the movie that keeps coming to me is the early David Cronenberg film SHIVERS. It's set entirely in an ultra-modern high-rise apartment buidling full of financially well-off young swingers. The horror comes from a parasite that moves from person to person and takes control of them and turns them into rape zombies. Good movie.

Dawn of the Dead.
Consooom, zombie.

The international cut had Goblin music in it which was good, but for some reason the scene with the zombie getting too close to the blades of the helicopter and having his head chopped off was removed.

I'm pretty sure whatever German version there is/was for this movie has even more amazing cuts.
