Movie Thread
Re: Movie Thread
The only version of Ghostbusters I liked was the Saturday Morning cartoon version from the 80's. And I don't mean the Filmation one with the talking gorilla.

Re: Movie Thread
I'm trying to watch Stalker again. God, it's so fucking hard. I read the book for this a couple times. I loved the book! I love the film Solaris as well, by the same director. Why is this so much harder to get into?
Nothing fucking happens in this movie. It's all useless, wordy fucks standing around speaking in psychobabble.
Solaris set up a moral conflict fairly quickly. How would an alien intelligence communicate with us if it is, by nature, totally alien to us? How would you react if your loved ones, long dead, came back to life? What conflicts between business interests and scientific discovery? What conflicts between scientific discovery and safety? That's Solaris.
The only thing that happens an hour+ into Stalker is the main characters sneak into the zone and then stand around blabbing philosophy. "I think it's better to be sensitive than a hardass." Pretty sure this wasn't in the book.

Why murder a perfectly good Leslie Kong when you can just send her back to Skull Island instead?

I'm surprised Filmation didn't sue Aykroyd & Colombia Pictures into oblivion over that, considering the former came up with Ghost Busters first.Guest wrote: ↑Sun Nov 21, 2021 3:51 amThe only version of Ghostbusters I liked was the Saturday Morning cartoon version from the 80's. They might've tried that. Either way calling that other cartoon "The Real Ghostbusters" was probably meant as an extra fuck you.
