Hey look, I loved Terminator and T2, Aliens and The Abyss. Even True Lies was okay. But he had his day and has made nothing but pompous dogshite ever since.
Wow, crazy to realize it was only 5 good films. With only those first 3 you mentioned being great ones.

Forget about Avatar 2, the first one was a massive flop.
Not financially and he sucked enough dick and greased enough wheels to get those Oscars. But just about nobody cared much for the story and it had near zero cultural impact.

I've never seen it on any top ten favourite lists or heard it mentioned as some kind of example for anything but CGI for perhaps a year at best.
Its not just no Goodfellas, it's not even an Endgame.

The most cultural impact is Na'vi cosplay fart porn.
And no, I wasn't actively looking for that.

Didn't think you were at start. Now I do :3

Methinks this senile fart tried to wait so long with the sequel that everyone forgot what a borefest the original was. Even back then critics immediately pointed out the movie is basically Dances with wolves with blueskinned alien injuns. Any Uwe Boll flick had greater cultural impact.

Unironically true. People still watch Uwe Boll movies for entertainment of sorts. I wouldnt be at all surprised if nobody has watched Avatar these past two years.
Sounds unlikely but not unbelievable.

The only cultural impact Avatar had was that, for a while, every movie had to be screened in cancerous stereoscopic 3D so they could bilk you for more money for tickets. Which is probably why Avatar grossed so much, incidentally.

It just ushered in the latest attempt at making 3D cinema a thing.

Besides that: What would even convince people to keep watching all 6 or so planned movies?
Oh boy, I sure wonder if we will see new tribes of noble savages in a fantastic locale.
Oh boy, I sure wonder if humans will show up and be cartoonish Captain Planet villains again.

"A-at least it isn't capeshit" is the one excuse I keep hearing from these Cameron dickriders, as if they themselves haven't seen enough cinema from decades prior.

You look at it’s like Wikipedia and you think it’s making a profit - but considering Cameron’s claim that it would need 3-4 bil to break even, that’s debatable. Certainly not going to happen when it’s underperforming Top Gun and goddamn Jurassic Park 6.

People asked themselves that question right when he announced that he'd make more. Seems like he too didn't find the answer to it.

The blue cats are so on the nose that it's pretty difficult to sympathize with them and so one-note that you instantly know everything about them.
There is no need nor desire to explore that fiction any further.
