These movies have always been pulpy and ridiculous, and changing the theme from magic treasure to flying saucer doesn't affect the quality of them. Neither does five seconds of CG monkeys. The action and pacing of Crystal Skull is just as on point as it was in the first three films. So is the acting. Yes, Shia too. He's fine. It's not Spielberg's fault he became a meme later.

I hate to quote the Plinkett review - but with Crystal Skull I still agree with Third Reich Mike. Fords performance is adequate - but him being in his 60s doesn’t make the movie as fun - because you’re supposed to be projecting yourself onto the character. Nobody’s going to want to watch Fast and Furious 22 with Vin Diesel at 80 years old.
