Watched Scream 5, name dropping 4chins and plebbit (or dreadit as they call it at one point) was incredibly lame. I’m an old school horror fan, back when it was a fun genre you’d watch with friends and have a good time. Now it’s all elevated horror and purists are toxic reeee!

No joke, the duo met on a subreddit, there was no motivation for the beta male/grown man fucking a teenage girl in secret, it was all her. I miss when it was just two gay dudes who wanted to get revenge and make a real life horror movie, not this legacy requel shit.

Scream has always been "self-aware" and "meta". You should've known better than watch one set in the age of social media.
Also you forgot to mention that Scream 5 is the only one except the first to not be numbered. Even though the 6th went back to numbering.

I’ve always had a love hate with the meta, especially when it comes to “da rules” bullshit. Final girls have sex and do drugs, the black guy doesn’t always die first/at all sometimes, and plenty of virgins die. If you cut the meta out they’d be better films IMO.

I refuse to acknowledge non numbered sequel titles, Halloween 2018 is Halloween Returns, the title is even in the soundtrack. Flows well with Kills and Ends. 6 was better, although the idea of three people starting an internet conspiracy against one girl is kinda ridiculous. 7 will totally be about cancelling the killer, although that kind of was Halloween Kills, minus the quirky meta.

I agree, it was definitely better than 5. Plus it made more sense for the legacy characters to be there that time around.
