I know too much about this movie but its depiction of a gay "relationship" is probably somewhat realistic. The snarky podcaster and muscle lawyer might be "dating" but they still have group sex and sex with other men during this time. Certainly no monogamy. There's a scene where the podcaster is sitting in the cuck corner while two other guys are sucking off the lawyer. I don't think they show wangs but it is pretty graphic for a regular released film.

The movie *itself* looks like it cost maybe 2.5-3 mil - which if that were true would put it on track for a moderate profit.

Keep in mind 22 mil means close to 40 mil in reality. And rom coms in that price range, and I did maybe a two minute google search on this for reference - they're usually high concept. Like something to do with alternate realities or something that requires visual effects. For example - "What Men Want" - from 2019, cost about 20 million - so about 40 million. That is 2 million less than "Bros" - and that starred an Oscar nominee, and Tracy Morgan - aka a nigger Kugel might have possibly potentially heard of - so it really does come off like money was just grossly mismanaged here. I noticed "Bros" has a fuckton of name producers - I'm sure they all wanted gigantic salaries for doing fuck all.

The "Bros" guy's problem isn't with those awful homophobic straight people. It's with how films with any kind of niche appeal have no next to no chance in today's world. Twenty-five years ago, a movie like "Bros", if it's good, might have done well on the arthouse circuit. Arthouse hits were a thing once upon a time. A few decades ago, it was a big part of moviegoing culture if you were a curious person who liked movies. It was great and it doesn't exist anymore, due to a combination of changes in business and how people watch movies.
