She's saying that the movie was marketed as a feminist statement when it should have simply been marketed as an action movie. She's talking about the way the movie was sold. And I agree. If you tell me "See this movie to support women", I'm not going. If you tell me "See this movie because it's got great action", I might.

My main bone of contention is that Elizabeth Banks doesn't acknowledge that she was a full participant in that marketing.

How political is the movie itself? I have no idea. I haven't seen it.

It's true that men won't take direction from women well, though. They haven't earned it. When you live on easy mode, you don't get to tell guys what to do. No determined man listens to women.

Elizabeth Banks's next movie as a director, out next year, is called "Cocaine Bear". It stars Ray Liotta in his last role. This is the IMDB plot synopsis:

It tells the story of a drug runner whose plane crashes with a load of cocaine that's found by a black bear, who eats it.

OKAY, I'm listening. I'd see that. Too bad it'll be a CGI bear.
