It's like Saved By The Bell: The New Class. The New Class actually ran for seven seasons, longer than its parent show, but nobody remembers or cares about it and it really didn't launch anyone's career.

Yeah, I'm surprised New Class lasted as long as it did. Only reason I could figure is that it probably cost very little to make. The sets were recycled, a lot of the scripts were recycled, most of the actors didn't stay the full series run so you don't have the Star Trek TNG problem of having to pay the actors too much

You just said fake animu and Avatar in the same sentence. I don’t think anyone ever saw Kappa Mikey unless they were stoned at 3AM and flipped the channel to Nicktoons. IIRC it was originally pitched as a more adult oriented series for MTV and the concept is that its world is indeed a cartoon world, hence why the baka gaijin has a more cartoony western design art wise with shapes and bold lines.

Goofing aside the show just came up because the catchy theme by Beat Crusaders got in my head recently. I’ve heard talks of old shows I like being revived but due to current year I’d rather them stay dead, I don’t need Dan Vs. White Supremacy, or Sym-bionic Titan to come back with a far more colorful cast than before.

I think I remember a chuckle here and there, it had some dumb green gas tiered fart jokes but I liked the whole idea of a foreigner winding up becoming an actor for a tokusatsu style show. It was like proto Neo Yokio, only nobody’s dad had to buy it for them.
