Don't be silly. The people in power are not bending to the will of social media; social media was shaped into something that promotes their own agendas. They purged all the interesting dissenting voices and only left powerless, boring "dissenters" that are used to pad up numbers and provide a thinly-veiled illusion of normalcy to the shenanigans they pulled there. People like to say that "conservatives lost the culture war on social media", but that was never in dispute to begin with, since they always controlled it from the beginning. You can't really fight something if the opposition controls the battlefield AND the means to fight.Liar Revealed wrote: ↑Thu Jun 17, 2021 8:00 pmI used to believe that until the last few years when people in power started bending to the will of social media. Boomer conservatives are ignoring the culture war in cyberspace.
The real battle was (barely) fought and lost when Amazon AWS, Cloudflare, Google, etc. became the backbone of internet infrastructure. Now you can't dissent because they'll simply flip a switch and not only you're gone from social media, your're gone from hosting anything at all. I'd rather score a win against Cloudflare's effective monopoly on reverse proxying than score a thousand hollow victories owning the libs on Twitter.
