I really like Lynch. He's clearly passionate about his work and at times a deep thinker but at his very core he's absolutely hilarious with a very dry humor.

Re: Non-cape tv show
After two seasons of degrading quality, "The Last Laugh" reminded me of what a great post-apocalyptic drama Survivors could (and should) have been.
Written by series lead Ian McCulloch (who only returned in season 3 for the episodes he wrote), it's a complete rejection of the cozy soap opera aesthetic the show had developed. McCulloch kills off his lead character by having him get infected with smallpox and then returning home to his family to aggressively denounce them, in order to trick a group of attacking bandits into recruiting him. Knowing that he will thus infect them and kill them all in revenge. To save his family, he has to make them think he's betrayed them. Brilliant.
It's a superb scene, his shining hour. If the entire show was as gritty and nailbiting as this, it would've been a masterpiece.

I love how the Survivors intro is just the backstory for COVID lol. Chinese scientist has butterfingers, releases a plague.
Terry Nation was a genius.

New Red Dwarf special's been confirmed by Robert Llewelyn (who plays Kryten), apparently to start filming in late 2024/early 2025.

I finished the original run of Twin Peaks. The finale was okay, although you could tell Lynch meddled with the script. The Black Lodge sequence wasn't nearly as intense as some previous scenes, so that was a disappointment.
I will miss Kenneth Welsh as the "mind of a diamond", Windom Earle. He was such a great troll character.

I’m glad you made it through buddy, do you plan to watch The Return? I haven’t seen it yet myself.Rushy wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2024 4:00 pmI finished the original run of Twin Peaks. Yeah, I'll give it a go after Fire Walk With Me. I'm quite interested (and a little afraid) to see what Lynch will do with complete creative controlOld Black Man wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 2:17 amI’m glad you made it through buddy, do you plan to watch The Return? Re: Non-cape tv show
I watched the first two parts of Twin Peaks: The Return.
I'm really glad Lynch didn't have full creative control over the original show. It's turned into a borderline incomprehensible schizophrenic nightmare.
The only thread that really carries over is that a demonic version of Cooper (now inexplicably reinvented as the Terminator) is on the loose. Aside from that, Lynch is just doing a Lynch movie. Twin Peaks barely factors into it.
