I hated Scott Pilgrim. I thought it had finally gone away.

I doubt Ranma 1/2 will ever come back. It never had the kind of following in Japan that Urusei Yatsura or Inuyasha had.

Ranma gets really annoying, really fast. Even when Takahashi tried to spruce things up with the demi-monsters like Pantyhose Taro and the Musk so nasty, it was more of the same.

The one good idea was rhythmic gymnastics martial arts. I'm shocked and amazed that no one has made an Ikki-Tousen-style waifu fight animu around this concept.

Yeah, I tapped out at some point. She has a very Western "sitcom" style of writing. Once her setting is established, the status quo is never changed. It gets repetitive and boring.

The anime got canceled before it could finish adapting the manga. But I heard the manga had a non-ending. The Jusenkyo curses never got lifted, the couples never really got together, etc.

Yep. The only conflict that is somewhat resolved is with Ranma's retarded mother and the possible ritual sudoku of the two Saotome men for not fulfilling their vow. Ranma and Akane's marriage is foiled by the entire retarded cast, and both decide to wait and solve their issues (which will never happen because Ranma is an insecure cretin and Akane is a dumb tsundere).

Yeah. Urusei Yatsura had a real ending, despite being a pure comedy. Lum and Ataru really do love each other at the end.

Most of Rumiko's better mango have actual endings. It's the shit ones where she does the endless sitcom thing. Maison Ikkoku had a real ending. Mermaid Saga had a real ending.

So the only decent stories of hers are her first work and the ones that people don't actually talk about? Sad.
And didn't Inuyasha have the same problem? With the story just meandering all over the place until the studio just had to wait for 5 years for the damn manga to actually end?
