So gender bending is a regular thing in this highly pedophilic show you like so much. Suspicious.

The only gender-bending animu tolerable is Ranma 1/2, and only because of how retarded it is.

Did anyone ever unironically like that anime?

Maybe when I was 12. Most of Takahashi's animus are like that. The only ones that hold up IMO are Mermaid Saga and Urusei Yatsura.

I know it was syndicated to bits. It's was on, everyone knew it. But no girl liked it and all boys thought it was super gay.
Who watched it? It always appeared to be a filler anime in between Dragon Ball and Sailor Moon or Inujasha or even Chin Chan.

Like a break in the programming so kids actually get some homework done.

The animu i like are either of the ultraviolent kind like RazorFisting of The North Star, or idiotic comedies like Gintama and Excel Saga, and Ranma kinda fits the second category.
I'm interested in normie animu like DragMyBallz and Poggerniggaz as much as i'm interested in modern Tv shows; not much.

In my neck of the woods it was more like no one knowing it was even on air, myself included.
Girls watched Sailor Moon, Lady Oscar and whatever Voice is watching, boys watched City Hunter and Kenshiro.
I believe i heard about it only once from a friend of mine, and after he described the plot i wasn't even interested in checking it out.
I watched reruns much later on.

What about Le Romantic comedy Maison Ikkoku?
All i remember about it was the protagonist being a clone of the one in Lamù (Italian title of Urusei Yatsura), and being the orbiter of his landlord or some shit like that.

Maison Ikkoku is good if you like that kind of thing. Manga version of soap opera.

As much as I love Maison Ikkoku, Ataru Moroboshi is comedy gold.

You're a bunch of monkeys dancing for shekels. Dance and keep your pie holes shut, monkeys. Your dumbass opinions aren't wanted and aren't valid.

Here you couldn't escape it. Ranma 1/2^5x16 ran in the same block as Poggermanz, Dragemballs, One Piss, Sailor Moon, Mila Superstar, Inujasha and Tsubasa. Several of them rotating, naturally.

Ranma 1/2 was extremely popular in the nascent American anime fandom of the early 90s. We got the Ranma manga and anime (video tapes) long before we got Dragon Ball and even before Sailor Moon I think. VIZ heavily pushed it. Animeigo also released Urusei Yatsura around the same time, but they didn't have the money and promotional power as VIZ, so it wasn't as popular.

Ranma fans were also really annoying, kind of like Narutards. They honestly thought it was the greatest manga/anime ever made.

Saw Shin Kamen Rider today. It was... a thing, I guess. Kind of tired of Hideaki Anno's shtick. Super heavy on banal dialogue, often technobabble. Perhaps the actors are bad, but I get the feeling this is a George Lucas situation where they are directed to babble all these inane lines in a monotone.

Miike would have done a much better job. This tokusatsu kind of thing should be fun schlock. Don't try to make it "deep".
