Anyone else miss board games?

At the risk of sounding like an out of touch, grumpy old man, does anyone else miss proper games on the table?
As a kid, I had a helluva lot more fun with basic shit like chess, Ludo, Monopoly, even Battleship than I ever do now with all the apps in the Play Store(that end up sucking my money cause I keep downloading and deleting the garbage).
And even when you get the classics on the phone, it's always some crappy, "how did they fuck this up?" version.

Why bother with an accurate port if you already have a well-known IP in your hands?

And of course do I miss those games. Settlers of Catan. That Lord of the Rings board game from before the movies. Motherfucking HeroQuest.
Good times.

You mean the one by Reiner Knizia? I was always pissed off because nobody except me could be arsed to figure out the rules.

That one. My family didn't really have problems with the rules, but to make up with that we were one of the many families who played Monopoly and Risk with annoying houserules - like one that caused inflated the shit out of your unit reinforcements in Risk.

Not really. I grew up with normy families that didn't play any interesting board games.

The most fun I had playing traditional games was playing card games like poker, blackjack and 31.

Civilization the board game

That's a 10 hour investment I've made multiple times.

I appreciate it because while military conquest is an option, it's very risky as trading and economic dominance is preferred

I miss playing Billards with my dorm buddies more. And Darts, getting shitfaced in the local cheap as fuck bar.

I don't, but then I still play them occasionally with my group of friends. The boring fucks we are, we'll all have a boardgame night when we all have a couple of days off.

My group of friends sometimes just gather for a game of something.

It's more about the group than the games for me.
