Probably a combination of things. First you had the bullshit Hidden Figure garbage that claimed black women were responsible for NASA putting men on the moon, then there was a revisionist space series that just came out from the douche that did Battleshake Galactica that had illegal alien Mexicans becoming astronauts. Going to the moon (if you believe it was real) was the greatest thing humanity ever did and it was accomplished almost entirely by straight huwhite males and that pisses off the rainbow hairs and communists. Expect lots of black scientists when Indy has an action chase through NASA HQ.

So back to Mission Impossible. I watched the remastered blu ray and it looks great, but otherwise it's got the same special features as the 2006 dvd. As far as I know there's no making-of doc for the best movie in the series, not even a featurette or commentary. It's bizarre.

I wish they would have brought de Palma back and tried to make another actual spy movie instead of the non-stop action fests we've been getting for decades now, but I guess that's on Cruise wanting to run all the time so he can seduce young Scientology brides. It was goofy that they referenced Max from the first movie in Fallout by having her daughter ride the Cruise kawk, and it's even goofier that they're bringing Kittridge back in the next movie. Stop referencing better movies, Christopher McQuarrie.
