Yes, but for that time frame she didn't act.
I also just really wanted to mention Dickson Poon. How could I not?

This brings back bad memories. I only saw one or two of these kinds of films to quickly realize Hong Kong cinema was dead.

Hong Kong cinema died around the time kung fu comedy went stale. Jackie Chan went international and what was left? Fu Sheng died in a car accident. Bruce Lee had died early too. Golden Harvest had a good run for a while. King Hu made some stuff in Taiwan if you want to count that.

I dunno. There was about a 10-15 year slump at least, between the last of the Venom Mob films, or maybe if you want to stretch, 7 years from the Jet Li pictures like "Legend of Fong Sai-Yuk" until Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. But CTHD is more of a wuxia fantasy picture. More a sequel to something like Dragon Gate Inn or Come Drink With Me, rather than a successor to 36th Chamber of Shaolin. CTHD followed with Hero and House of Flying Daggers. Those were the big 3 of wuxia martial cinema. But after that, well... The entire martial arts film industry fucking died. Aside from random low-budget films from Michael Jai White or a sequel to Undisputed 2, there hasn't been much. The Raid hit for a while and did well. But that turned out to be a one-off. I will always argue the first Raid is way better than the second. The second is like a meme version, complete with edgy anime characters. It didn't lead to anything either. What I mean is, The Raid and Raid 2 didn't usher in any new era of martial arts movies. The movies came out, some people liked them, and then they passed.

Part of the reason martial arts movies suck so much now is the prevalence of CGI. CGI is much cheaper to use than practical effects and less dangerous. Chinese tv dramas are absolutely in love with shitty CGI.

Because the bugmen get what they get and better be fine with it.
Hero was alright but Crouching Niger Hidden Fagon was just retarded. Playing off that weird wire guide floating as serious didn't make it any less gay.

I member when Ip Man was hyped to be the savior of Martial Arts cinema, but then they ruined it with shitty nonsensical Wire-Fu sequels (2beefaire, wires are the only method to prop up Chow Yun Fat).

At least the genre lasted long enough to give us Kung-Fu Hustle.

Wuxia works better if you use puppets.

Our resident kigu has ruined that for me. I'm expecting them to present snacks to the camera any moment.

Nah, the worst they've done is having gay crossovers with Fate/alt right and Meduka Meguca.
