Re: "Cartoons"
Well I watched a clip of nu Duck Tales that has Donald Duck with his "normal" voice and it just doesn't fit. I always pictured Jason Alexander for reasons.

Re: "Cartoons"
In the original DuckTales they replaced Donald with Launchpad McQuack because Donald is hard to understand and his voice is too well known to just change it.Moe Bitches wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2020 2:07 amWell I watched a clip of nu Duck Tales that has Donald Duck with his "normal" voice and it just doesn't fit. At first I thought someone had screwed up and inserted fat shaming.VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Sun Apr 12, 2020 8:47 pmWhy would you do that? Glomgold is Scrooge without scruples, not Scrooge crossed with Boogie. It doesn't make sense for him to be fat because he's also stingy af.
But then I realized it's a subtle suggestion from Disney to their fans, most of whom are the same body type:
Spend your money on us. Dont be evil like this tightwad jerk.
...and still: Spoony did nothing.

Re: "Cartoons"
Dude even has some kind of neckbeard

Even that idea has been touched on decades ago with a classic Barks story in which Scrooge finds Not-Shangri-La and fucks over their economy with the introduction of bottle caps, which first start out as the most rare of treasures until they get so much that stuff it turns into a plague.Le Redditeur wrote: ↑Sun Apr 12, 2020 11:56 pmEven if the original DuckTales isn't that great, people right now should be required to watch that episode about inflation, since a lot of economic-illiterate cucks are prescribing "just print more money and distribute it, bro!" as the answer to the Corona Depression.

There's some good shit with those stories. Think Mickey is lame? How about him working as a private detective? That's like every second comic story of his?
Wanna see Donald as an oldschool European superhero? That stuff has been going on for decades, though nothing is quite as fun as his debut story where he goes Day of Retribution on Scrooge as payback for all the years of basically slave labor.
Wanna see fun parodies? They've got everything: Gone with the Wind, Star Wars, or at least two different versions of LotR (one of which turns sci-fi-ish in its sequels).
There are even at least two D&D parody stories (complete with the characters being a dysfunctional bunch of tabletop RPG players), which is pretty weird already. The second one - The Black Orb - is especially bizarre to me for two reasons:

- It has Donald hang out with Mickey and gang. Donald and Mickey almost never cross their paths in the comics outside of rare, usually multi-part crossover stories. And this is just some short one-off tabletop parody.
- One of the players is Pete. If you're not familiar with deep Disney comic lore, outside of Goof Troop adaptations Pete is generally a criminal who would probably shank Mickey (who's usually responsible for getting him in jail) if given the option. Here he's just playing Not-D&D with Mickey, using loaded dice to cheat.
Autism attracts more autism. Sooner or later, an internet nobody will attract the exact kind of fans - and detractors - he deserves.

He!

Me? God that's honestly a tough one. I've like many over the years, but there's always a feel looking at them. You can see something that took effort and something that was thrown together. Even Reddit and Memey has a good art style I think because while the material is nonsense, the artist puts all of it in and makes it consistent.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Apr 14, 2020 5:11 amWhat do you guys think of when you see a good art style, no bullshit.
I really loved HBO Spawn. That was the comics in motion. I really think any anime I've seen that's got more than 10 frames a second is a good style.
I think in hindsight as I wrote this, I'm thinking more in terms of animation quality and fluidity than art styles. HBO Spawn would be amazing art style for me.

Funnily enough that's what they did in Germany during the Depression. Look at the resultLe Redditeur wrote: ↑Sun Apr 12, 2020 11:56 pmEven if the original DuckTales isn't that great, people right now should be required to watch that episode about inflation, since a lot of economic-illiterate cucks are prescribing "just print more money and distribute it, bro!" as the answer to the Corona Depression.

I must have a high tolerance for bullshit because I can't think of anything I hate besides absolute sewage like CalArts or capeshit comics (I don't like capeshit at all, even whatever's above gutter waste like Squirrel Girl.) I sorta agree with AlphabetAgencyAfroAmerican that shit art could service something if its silly enough but R&M is a bad example, its just filth all around.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Apr 14, 2020 5:11 amWhat do you guys think of when you see a good art style, no bullshit.
I'll give a special mention to "incomprehensible" art being extremely painful. I'm kinda stupid and don't exactly have an eye for detail but there's some examples out there where's its not just me being a retard, like the Trigun mango.

Stan Sakai's Usagi Yojimbo. The early volumes of Punisher MAX. The Valley Forge issue of MAX as well. Transmetropolitan. Volume 2 of Northlanders (iirc.) Hellboy.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Apr 14, 2020 5:11 amWhat do you guys think of when you see a good art style, no bullshit.
Basically, I want to see an art style that both fits the subject matter and feels uniquely that of the artist. Something that you can look at and tell right away who the artist was. But like I said, it has to fit the tone and themes of the story. It's no good to have bright, bubbly pop-art when the subject matter has people saying "fuck" every two words and talking about transsexuals.
Part of the reason the soyboy art looks so fucking bad is the combination of preschool coloring and knockoff-Disney designs. They don't gel with the political bullshit and hysterical tirades that comprise the story. Look at Koike's Lone Wolf and Cub. The art perfectly fits the tone. You can look at one PANEL of Lone Wolf and Cub and you understand what the mood is. You understand everything instantly.
